7 Quick Apply Full-time Part-time 1 day ago Full Job Description $1,000 SIGN ON BONUS! The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is a role model for the developmentally disabled population that we serve within a group home.
The DSP will be responsible for providing physical assistance for all activities of daily living that the individual does not complete independently.
Responsibilities:
Uses a pro-active approach to encourage choice making.
Guides, and if necessary, provides physical support to the individual during the actions of self-care routines:
toileting, hand washing, bathing, showering, tooth brushing, eating, personal grooming and dressing.
Carries out program goal plans (i.
e.
self-care, communication, independent living, mobility, learning, records documentation, etc.
) and physical therapy interventions.
Assists and supervises the individual during house cleaning chores, i.
e.
dusting, vacuuming, bed making, laundry, ironing, dishwashing and table setting, and finishes all housekeeping responsibilities that the individual cannot satisfactorily complete.
Actively participates in and provides supervision during recreation, as well as encourages/schedules opportunities for leisure activities.
Maintains DRIVER AUTHORIZATION status in order to provide transportation and supervision during community outings.
Teaches the consumers the aspects of good nutrition.
Accurately maintains documentation in all logs and completes necessary forms as warranted.
Adheres to emergency policies and administers first aid.
Administers medication as necessary.
Attends and participates in staff meetings, in-services trainings, and keeps certifications current.
Offers suggestions and requests supplies for site-specific needs.
At any time during a DSP's shift, the employee may be asked to cover at another location.
Complete and maintain SCIP, Adult CPR, AMAP and defensive driving certifications within 6 months of hire or transfer in order to keep the DOC pay, as per IGHL policies.

High School Diploma/GED B.
Valid NYS Driver's license C.
Complete and maintain SCIP and Adult CPR certification, as per IGHL policy D.
Work regularly scheduled days, including those that fall on holidays E.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
at least five times per hour F.
Able to sit, stand or bend throughout the day G.

The DCC's actions and interactions are based on mutual respect, communication, teamwork, teaching Activities of Daily Living (ADL).
The DCC will provide hands on physical assistance for all ADL that the consumer does not complete independently.
Responsibilities:

Utilizes physical redirection techniques, as per OPWDD SCIP certification and individualized adaptive behavior programs E-3 Guides, teaches and supervises, and, if necessary, provides physical assistance to the consumer during the performance of self-care routines:

time sheets, time off requests, tuition reimbursement, physical complaint reports and incident reports 12- Adheres to emergency policies and administers first aid in accordance with prescribed procedures 13- Attends and participates in staff meetings and in-services training 14 Offers suggestions and requests supplies for residential, programmatic, site-specific needs 15- Participates in specialty training such as CPR and keeps certifications current 16- At any time during a DCC's shift he/she may be asked to cover at another location; including hospital coverage based on Agency needs 17- Complete and maintain SCIP, Adult CPR, AMAP and defensive driving certifications within 6 months of hire or transfer in order to keep the DOC pay, as per IGHL policy 18 All other duties as assigned REQUIREMENTS A.
