Job Description The Construction Estimator will generate and manage estimates required for pre-construction bidding purposes.
The Estimator attends pre-bid meetings, conducts site visits and provides estimates, budgets, bid packages and procurement for all construction phases and across all scopes.
The Estimator must have ability to prepare full quantity takeoffs and support all disciplines in commercial and municipal projects.
Bid preparation shall include, but not be limited to demolition, civil, structural, concrete, drainage, sewer, water, paving, landscaping, mechanical, electrical and plumbing.
A complete understanding of the relationship of the cost of labor, materials, equipment and productivity and the unit cost at each level of estimate is expected.
Scope of work - Review construction documents, blueprints, plans, specifications, and have and understanding of the scope of work.
Develop project specific trade scopes.
Knowledge of rules and regulations.
Quantity takeoffs - Must prepare full quantity takeoffs from construction documents.
Manage trade coverage - Manage subcontractor database and contact information as well as developing and maintaining relationships with company vendors and subcontractors.
Communication - Manage communications with design team, subcontractors, and in-house staff.
Solicit cost proposals from subcontractors.
Inform the immediate supervisor of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in quote items.
Preparation of cost analysis - Prepare course analysis in excel by outlining labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs incurred during the installation of items and organizing them on a company server.

Technical Skills The construction estimator will use a variety of technical and soft skills to support the profitable operations of our company including:
Proficiency in mathematics, statistics, and data analysis Familiarity with cloud-based software Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail Report writing and strategic planning skills Familiarity with analyzing requirement data to develop material and cost estimates for large projects Expertise with spreadsheets Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills Exceptional time management skills OSHA training Experience Requirements Construction Estimator candidates should have at least three years of experience estimating costs in a relevant industry.
Candidates who have three or more years of experience may be able to start work with little or no additional training.
Candidates with five or more years' experience may have leadership potential and be ready for more specialized tasks.
